D & M Freedman concentrates on most kinds of Chinese porcelain and other works of art including scroll paintings, as well as Japanese porcelain, always seeking high quality and the unusual. The company was founded by David Freedman in 1999 and has been supplying collectors, dealers and museums alike since then. Some museums the company has sold to are the Museum Fur Ostasiatische Kunst Museum, Cologne, Germany, and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
Prior to 1999 David Freedman worked with Richard Marchant, and later with his son Stuart as well, for thirty years. There he initially received a first-class grounding from Richard and within the company he eventually became one of the firm's principal buyers.
In 2012, David Freedman's wife, Mercedes, joined the company. She had been a university lecturer in Psychology for 16 years and her joining the company seemed natural given her long-standing interest in art and her being a painter. Her interest in art includes Chinese paintings, a new field the company now offers.
